The Making of Our Short Film

First Lesson

In the last few Media Studies lessons we have been working on a short film that we have created. I was in a group of four with Chloe, Jack and Natasha. We decided to  make the genre a horror/action movie as we wanted to use the Action and Adventure convention. We were given a canon to film the 30 second film and we decided to film it in a dark and small space. Chloe and Jack were the two policemen (Heroes) and the villain was Natasha, and I was the Director. Throughout the film we used a variety of different camera angles. We used Over the shoulder, high camera shot and a foot to head camera shot. As the top picture shows we used a high camera angle shot.

Second Lesson

After the first lesson of filming the short movie then went onto edit our movie. We were put into two groups of two so we could be two edits of the movie and we could decide what edit is better and then we would go ahead with the best one. Me and jack worked on one edit and Chloe and Natasha worked on the other edit. We logged onto the mac and opened iMovie. We imported the video clips from the canon and we put the clips into the order to help us edit the movie easier. We started by looking through the sound effects that were on iMovie and we looked until we found some great music to play throughout the majority of the movie. We then found a great sound for the end of the movie when the camera starts at the foot and moves up towards her head. This made the film more dramatic and scary. We haven't quite finished our short film but it is looking very good so far.

  1. You worked very well both shooting and editing your clips. You give a clear account of the process.
    Grade A for practical work.
